Pilates As Part of Your Adventure Racing Training Plan

Adventure racing is a multi-disciplinary sport which utilizes cross-training as an essential tool for preparation. The average person assumes this only means incorporating cardio and strength training. While this is true it is also vitally important to include a facet of your training which will improve your flexibility, strengthen your core movements and find balance within your mind and body to achieve maximum performance in your adventure racing activities.

Pilates is the perfect balance to the rigors your cardio and strength training. Long strenuous months of training will take a toll on your body and you will need to seek revitalization through rest and an alternative program such as Pilates.

Increased flexibility, joint strength and balance between the mind and body will help ward off injury, prevent muscle damage and lesson burn out while at the same time your Pilates program will reduce the stress and toxins produced through your training. Pilates should be strongly considered when designing a well balanced adventure racing training plan.
